What began as a desire for something they thought God was withholding eventually caused Adam and Eve to hide from the very God who had created them. Sometimes we hide behind busyness, success, church involvement, perfectionism, or the image we project to others. But God already knows where we are, and His question, “Where are you?” is not condemnation—it is an invitation to come out of hiding. We were encouraged to take off frustration, fear, indifference, and discouragement and put on compassion instead. Because we don’t have to help—we get to help. The woman in the story didn’t casually search for what was missing—she intentionally lit a lamp, swept the house, and searched carefully until she found it. In the same way, Jesus calls His Church to be intentional about reaching those who are far from Him. We were challenged to let our lives shine as the light of the world, removing anything that could become an obstacle to someone encountering Jesus. Our conversations, character, relationships, and choices should point people toward Him. The search is sacrificial, requiring us to step outside our comfort zones and risk rejection because every person is worth the pursuit. A consecrated life stays on the altar—fully surrendered, set apart, and available for His will. When we give God everything, we begin to live in the fullness of His good, pleasing, and perfect plan.
